Recent Projects

5205 Bischoff Ave. Garden Roof, St. Louis, MO
The home of Shield Systems recently underwent a historic re-roofing project. Historic because it is the first Garden Roof assembly installed in "The Hill" neighborhood. The project started with a complete roof tear-off and followed with the placement of the Strataseal HR Hot Rubberized Roofing membrane. To allow for pedestrian traffic, Wausau pavers were installed using a paver/pedestal system; this allowed for leveling of the sloped deck. Finally, CETCO's garden roof assembly was put in place to accommodate the engineered soil which will support the future plantings. When finished the area will provide a serene environment where the building occupants can visit and enjoy the pleasures of the roof top garden. View photos of the finished project.

IRS Building, Kansas City, MO
The IRS Building in Kansas City consumed almost a full city block on the near Southside of downtown. Important that the below grade areas were waterproof to protect the subterarian occupied space, the local design architect selected CETCO Swelltite waterproofing. Swelltite is a high performance membrane that incorporates the use of a geo-membrane liner with high swelling bentonite. The resulting technology yields a durable, impact resistant water tight shield.

MetroLink, St. Louis, MO
Metrolink, the highly used light rail system in St. Louis, experienced a major expansion that included a mile long underground tunnel. To assure that the tunnels maintained a dry environment, CETCO Swelltite was used on the precast tunnel roof panels while VOTLEX DS was selected for property line and below slab applications. The Voltex DS utilizes a HDPE liner, attached to the geotextile bentonite, which offers additional protection against methane and radon gases. This was deemed necessary since the tunnels are commonly occupied by Metrolink users and personnel.

BJC North, St. Louis, MO
BJC North Campus building is a typical example of how the Voltex Geo-textile bentonite waterproofing product can be used on property line construction. The installation starts with the Aquadrain 15X drainage board being attached to the lagging retention wall system. After placement of the 15X, the applicator follows with the application of the Voltex membrane. Next, the steel reinforcement is placed and the concrete forming is then erected for placement of the concrete. Concrete is poured against the exposed membrane which results in the Voltex mechanically "attaching" itself to the concrete.

St. Louis Public Library, St. Louis, MO
The St. Louis Public Library in downtown St. Louis expanded its office space into an adjacent building. Needing handicap accessibility and updates to the entranceway, it was decided that a paver/pedestal system be installed. First, the existing walking surface was removed and the Strataseal HR hot rubber was installed. The HR provided a waterproof membrane over occupied space. Next, pavers were placed on raised pedestals to level the walking surface and provide for ease of access. The result is a waterproof system that will require little maintenance in the years ahead.
